歌詞に出てくるYOUは一体誰のことでしょうか？主人公の彼女？一番説得力がありますが真相は違います。聞くところによると，James Morrison本人が，この曲を娘のために書いたとインタヴューで語ったそうです。 つまりこの曲は父親が娘に贈った曲。大変いい話ですが，ふと脳裏をよぎるのが，前回彼のLove Is Hardの時に言った「将来，イギリス版佐々木光太郎になりそうで怖い」というアレ。http://oyogetaiyakukun.blogspot.com/2012/02/love-is-hard-james-morrison.html

Who do you think the second person in the lyrics?  The first person's girlfriend?  Yes it's most likely but actually it's not.  I heard that James Morrison said in an interview that he wrote this for his daughter.  So this is a song from a father to his daughter.  It's very sweet but it reminds me of what I said on my post of "Love Is Hard".  Yes, that doting and overprotecting father thing.  Could it be?

余談ですが，和訳をしていて日本語の限界というものをよく感じます。この曲もYOUを「お前」，Iを「お父さん」と訳すべきなのでしょうが，そうすると歌詞世界が著しく限定されます。一方，英語であれば，YOUが誰であるかは聴いた人が決めればいいことです。
無論，日本語なりのメリットもあります。以前に投稿したTristan Prettyman ft. Jason MrazのShy That Wayは，日本語の持つ特性のおかげで，人称名詞を一切使わなくても，どこの歌詞を誰が歌っているか，曲を聴かなくてもわかるようになっています。

（追記）今までJames MorrisonのWikipediaにあったPersonal Lifeの記述がなくなっていました。そこには，2008年に恋人Gillとの間に娘（Elsie）が生れたことが書いてあったのですが，現在ではその記述はありません。ただし，父親となった旨の記述はそのまま残っています。
