Where Have All The Flowers Gone? ピート・シーガー (Pete Seeger)

Pete Seegerはかつてロシアの小説をヒントにこの曲を書いたそうで，その小説の中では，ロシアの兵士が「花はどこに行ったんだ？女の子が摘んでった。その女の子はどこ行った？みんな誰かと結婚したよ。それで夫はどうなった？みんな軍に入ったよ」と歌っているそうです。
The writer of this song Pete Seeger once said that he wrote this song inspired by a Russian novel in which soldiers sing "Where are the flowers? The girls have plucked them. Where are the girls? They’ve all taken husbands. Where are the men? They’re all in the army."

（余談）

「反戦」という文脈でこれまで何度も耳にした曲ですが，まさか発想のもとがロシアの小説だとは思いませんでした。それにしても，冷戦中は敵国とされていたロシアの小説をもとにした曲が，アメリカン・フォークのクラシックになっているのが，大変興味深いところです。
