Mama Told Me (Not to Come) エリック・バードン／スリー・ドッグ・ナイト (Eric Burdon / Three Dog Night)

原曲は1966年に，そして1970年にThree Dog Nightによる有名なカヴァーが出ているこの曲ですが，ラップに聞こえる冒頭の部分を聞いて驚きました。
The original was in 1967 and the well-known cover by Three Dog Night was released in 1970.  I was surprised to hear the opening of the song.  It sounds like a rap.

聞くところによると，この曲はアメリカ人アーティストRandy Newmanが60年代大都会ロサンゼルスのミュージック・シーンを回想して作った曲だそうで，この曲の主人公はマリファナ，ウィスキー飲み会，大音響の音楽などにいちいち驚くクソ真面目な若い男性のようです。

それはともかく，最初にタイトルを見た時，ネイティヴ・スピーカーでない私は，主人公が親から「もううちに来るな」と出禁を言い渡される内容だと思ったのですが，よくよく考えれば英語のcomeには「行く」という意味もあるので，おそらく「あんなとこに出入りするんじゃないよ」的な意味であると思われます。
