話というものは時に尾ひれがつき，それがそのまままかり通ったりするものですが，いわゆる都市伝説はそのひとつでしょう。この曲はPhil Collinsが最初の妻であるAndreaと離婚後に書かれたもので，実際には彼女に対する怒りを表現した曲です。
ただこの曲の歌詞には裏があると思っている人もいて，例えば，EminemはStanの歌詞の中でこのことに触れています。http://oyogetaiyakukun.blogspot.jp/2014/01/stan-eminem.html  （勿論彼がこんなことを信じているとは思っていません。）ここでひとつだけハッキリさせておきましょう。これはただの都市伝説で事実ではありません。
Sometimes stories get blown up more than it should be and go unchallenged.  Urban legends are one of those blown-up stories.  This song was written after Phil Collins divorced his first wife Andrea and it's actually about his anger towards her.
Some people believe, however, there's a secret story behind the lyrics.  For example, Eminem mentioned it in his Stan lyrics.  http://oyogetaiyakukun.blogspot.jp/2014/01/stan-eminem.html  (I don't think Em believes such a thing, of course.)  Just let me make one thing absolutely clear here.  That's just an urban legend and not true.
