（補足）the perfect storm・・・本来は「（複数の悪いことが同時に起こる）最悪の（破滅的な）事態（状況）」という意味ですが，それとは逆の意味もあるようなので，前後の文脈から判断して後者を採用しました。
（余談）
この曲は主人公が恋人と破局した後で「こんなハズじゃなかった」と嘆くいわば「振られ女の恨み節」でしょう。当のTori Kellyも，この曲はアルバムに暗めの側面を加えて，エッジを利かせるためのものと言っているようです。
ところで「振られ女の恨み節」としては，AdeleのRolling In The Deepが真っ先に浮かびますし，一見したところあちらの方が「もし裏切ったら浮気癖をばらしてやる，あることないこと一つ残らず暴露するからね，みくびったら酷い目に会うよ」と怖いのですが，実は具に見ていくと必ずしもそうとも言い切れない点が見つかります。
というのもAdeleの曲ではサビがWe could have had it allとなっているのに対し，この曲のそれはIt should've been usであるからです。確かにRolling In The Deepの主人公は激怒していますがその分相手への気持ちは冷め切っています。
これに対しこの曲ではサビのみならずタイトルまでもIt Could've Been UsではなくIt Should've Been Usとなっており，その辺りに主人公の執念（というか未練）を感じます。それだけに個人的にはこちらの主人公の方にこのままストーカー化しそうな怖さを感じます。
