* bright lights　・・・　都会の華やかさ
** twenty-one　・・・　アメリカで飲酒が公に認められる年齢

*** I need a house on the hill, girl, not in 'em　・・・　'emと複数形になっていることから考えて'emはおそらくhillsでしょう。カリフォルニアという言葉が登場する点，また相手が都会の華やかさに憧れるという流れから，ここはカリフォルニアのヒルズすなわちビバリーヒルズではないかと考えられます

**** So hang onto these words 'til them avenues help you forget 'em　・・・　最後の'emはthese words（あの言葉）を指しています。その内容は不明ですが，後半にthem (=thoseの俗語) avenues help you forget 'emとなっていることから，「あの大通り」によって「あの言葉」を忘れることになると考えられます。

So hang onto these words 'til them avenues help you forget 'em」の下りは直訳すると「だからあの言葉にしがみつけよ，お前があの言葉を忘れるのをあの大通りが手伝ってくれるまで」となり「あの大通りのせいであの言葉を忘れるまで頑張れよ」ということになるため，ここでは「お前は夢に向かって必死になって頑張れよ，華やかな街に揉まれてそんな夢すっかり忘れてしまうまで」という訳になっています。

（余談）

ここがこのような和訳になった理由はもうひとつあります。wordsにはtheseがついているのにavenuesの方にはthemがついているためです。

ご存知のようにtheseはthis（これ）の複数形であり，them (=those)はthat（あれ）の複数形なので，wordsの方は主人公の気持ちの近く，avenuesの方は主人公の気持ちからは遠いところにあるものだと考えられます。

しかもavenuesの方にはthoseではなくthemというスラングが使われていることから主人公の世界とはさらに離れたところにあると思われます。
