New York スノウ・パトロール(Snow Patrol)

Hey There Delilah (The Plain White T's)と同様，これも非常に美しいけれど悲しい曲。歌詞の主人公の男性は（おそらく英国にいて）現在はニューヨークにいる相手（女性）と離れて暮らしています。 彼女がそこへ行った経緯については不明ですが，主人公は必死に彼女に戻ってくるよう頼み，そうしなければ別れることになると語っています。サビの部分を聴いていると，彼が切羽詰まっているのがわかりますし，同時に2人がもう上手くいっていないこともわかります。
Like 'Hey There Delilah (The Plain White T's), this is a very beautiful but sad song.  The protagonist (the first person/a guy) in the lyrics is (probably in U.K. and) far away from the second person (girl) who is now in New York.  The reason that she went there is not explained here.  He desperately asks her to come back, saying otherwise they would break up.  We hear his despair in the hook and know their relationship isn't working anymore.

サビの7行目のI miss it all, from the love to the lightningの箇所ですが，最後のthe lightningの訳語は通常は「稲妻・閃光」です。ただfrom the love to the lightningということなので，loveの対極にあるものとして「ケンカ」と訳してあります。今後新しい解釈に辿りついた際には，改訂するつもりですが，今のところは暫定的に「ケンカ」ということにしておきたいと思います。
