歌詞に登場する「蝶々(butterflies)」は一体何を表しているのでしょうか？いわゆる「遊び人」を指しているという人によると，「好きな人はいつだって，蝶々みたいにフラフラと遊びまわる人ばかり (this girl only sleeps with butterflies)」の下りは，主人公が恋愛関係に真面目になれない相手ばかりをいつも好きになるという意味だそうです。

（余談）

 個人的には「this girl only sleeps with butterflies」の下りは，恋愛の時のドキドキ(butterflies in the stomach)を抱えて眠る，すなわち惚れっぽいという意味にもとれるような気がします。
