一般的にはこれは女性ではなくヘロインについて歌った曲だと考えられているようです。この曲を書いたPeter Perrettは，この曲は実在の女性をきっかけにしたと言っているものの，ヘロイン説を完全に否定もしていないようです。
Many people believe it's about heroin not a girl that the narrator is talking about here.  The writer of the song Peter Perrett declared he was inspired by an actual girl to write the song but didn't deny the theory entirely.
