有名人同士の離婚率は一般人のそれよりもずっと高いとよく聞きます。例えば，Mail Onlineによると「ある研究によると，2000年から2010年までに結婚した有名人あるいは芸能人カップルの半数が2014年にはすでに離婚している」そうですが，これに対し「同じ時期に一般人は26%しか離婚していない」そうです。
It's often said divorce rate is much higher between celebrities than between ordinary people.  For example, Mail Online says, "Fifty per cent of all famous or showbiz couples who married in the first decade of the century were divorced by 2014, according to the study" while "over the same period, 26 per cent of marriages among the non-celebrity population failed to stay the course."

（余談）

この「踏み石(stepping stone)」と似た意味を持つのが，「玄関マット (doormat)」という言葉ですが，そのどちらも「靴を履いて生活する」という前提で成立している表現であるように思われます。

これに対して日本語の「踏み台」は，靴を脱いでも利用できる辺りに，英語との文化の違いが感じ取れますが，これらの言葉の持つ「（それを使った結果として）今まで手の届かなかった場所に手が届くようになる」という本来の意味で考えれば，日本語の「踏み台」の方が内容を上手く表現しているような気がします。
