葬儀は確かに楽しいことではありませんがだからといって悲しいだけのことかというとそれも違います。葬儀はそこに出席している人間（生きている者）にとっては「区切り（closure）」だからです。
A funeral is not fun at all of course but not all about pain and sorrow either. It's a closure for the living who attend the funeral.

（余談）
人間の心は不思議なものでたとえどれほど受け入れがたいことであっても，そこになんらかの「区切り」があれば常にとは言わないまでも受け入れてやすくなります。諦めがつくからです。
