別れた相手の幸せを祈る優しい曲だと思って聞いていたところ，Verse1の後半辺りから風向きが変わってきて，当初は歌詞の意味を掴むのに苦労しました。

ただここまで言っておきながら，こういったことを考えること自体かなり未練があるという証拠なので，この主人公は仮に相手から「やっぱりお前が一番だったよ」と言われたら，ここまで言っておきながらあっさりよりを戻してしまいそうな気がします。

周囲から「Aidan Martinは一人のアーティストではなくデュオだ」と聞かされたら納得したと思います。この曲はまるで２人の人間が交互に歌っているように聞こえるからです。この声をどう表現していいのかわかりません。

・・・酷なようですがダメなものはどうやってもダメだと思います。

それはともかくverseを歌っているAidan Martinの声は（少なくとも私には）アフリカ系のアーティストのように聞こえるのですが，ヴィデオに登場する人物を見ている限りは明らかにヨーロッパ系であるようです。

ただサウル（カネロ）・アルバレス選手の例もあるのでそちらの線を完全に否定することもできないのかもしれません。

ヘンな話ですが荒野にたった一人でいても孤独は感じません。ちっぽけな自分に気が付いて怖くなることくらいはあるかもしれませんが，自分が孤独だとは思わないでしょう。ひとりぼっちだと感じるためには自分以外の存在が必要です。
It's funny that you don't feel lonely very much when you're alone in the wilderness.  You may feel humbled, be scared a bit but not lonely.  To feel the loneliness, you need the presence of others.

したがって一人暮らしが長くなればなるほど「ひとりでいること」が平気になります。他者の存在を忘れてしまうからです。逆に他者の存在が強く思い出されれば思い出されるほど孤独感は強まります。

「アンタがここにいた跡があちこちに残ってて 」の下りからもわかるように，この主人公の場合はつい最近まで相手がそこにいたからこその孤独なので，時間が経って相手のいた形跡が次第に薄くなっていけばそれにつれて主人公の孤独感も薄れていくような気がします。

それはともかく冒頭の「今日の朝目覚めたら全然知らない場所にいて，覗き込んだ鏡には知らない顔が映ってた」の下りですが，文字通りそうだとしたら間違いなくホラーです。

こっちの方に向かってる，青白く輝きながら昇ってくる月の光を (There's a storm out on the horizon, And it's coming our way, By the light of the blue moon rising)」の下りは単なるメタファーであり情景をそのまま描いたものではないと思っていましたが，実際はそうでした。月を青く光らせるのは埃や煙の粒子であり，それが赤い光を拡散して月を青くみせるのだとか。ではその粒子を何が空中に巻き上げるんだとお考えでしょう？森林火災や火山噴火そして砂嵐です。
Truth comes when you least expected.  I thought these lines "There's a storm out on the horizon, And it's coming our way, By the light of the blue moon rising" are metaphors and don't describe an actual scene.  Yes, they do.  What makes the Moon look blue is dust or smoke particles.  They scatter the red light and make a Blue Moon.  What makes these particles rise up in the air, you may ask; a forest fire, a volcanic eruption or a dust storm.

「これが今日の一杯目」という主人公ですが「辛い気持ちを消」 すために酒を飲んでいることを考えると，主人公がアルコール依存症である可能性は高く，その場合「今日の一杯目」が実際には一杯目ではなく二杯目三杯目であり，それが主人公の頭に影響しているのかもしれません。
The narrator says, "it's my first one today".  Thinking they drink to ease their pain, it's very likely that they're getting an alcoholic.  So maybe their "first one today" isn't actually the first but the second or third, which plays a trick on their mind.

誰の言葉だったかは忘れましたが，ビジネスにおいて最も重要なのが「タイミング」なのだとか。

この曲は12歳のゴスペル・シンガーが作ったもので，今の状況（BLM運動）を反映させた歌詞にと彼の歌唱力とであっという間に広まり，メジャー・デビューも決まったそうですが，まさに前述の言葉を裏付けるような出来事です。

Popular Monster フォーリング・イン・リヴァース (Falling in Reverse)

ロックに詳しくないためこのバンドを知らず，イントロの「Yeah」を聞いてあのMike Shinodaかと思い，彼が新しいバンドを作ったのかもと考えてかなりワクワクしました。まあ結果的に彼ではなかったわけですが，それでもこの曲にはどこかLinkin Park的なものを感じてしまいます。
I don't know much about rock music, I have never heard of the band.  So when I heard "Yeah" in the intro, I thought it's Mike Shinoda and was very thrilled to think he might have formed a new band.  It turned out otherwise but I still hear Linkin Park in the song.

リードでも述べたように，最初の「Yeah」こそLinkin Parkのこちらの曲のイントロにそっくりですが，Wikipediaによると，このバンドFalling in Reverseはリード・ヴォーカルのRonnie Radkeが収監されている間に結成したバンドだそうで，そういう意味で言えばLinkin Parkとは対極にあるバンドなのかもしれません。

それにしてもラップとロックの組み合わせまではまだ予測できたものの，終盤のデス声には意表を突かれました。・・・そうきたか。

（余談）

この主人公は相手の「いつだってそばにいる」という言葉を鵜呑みにしたのがマズかったとも考えられますが，だからといって常にその言葉を疑って「そんなこと言ったって・・・」と猜疑心を募らせていればいいかというと，それはそれで「面倒くさい相手」になってしまい，余計に別れを加速させる恐れがあります。

・・・「ゆく川の流れは絶えずしてしかももとの水にあらず」と方丈記の冒頭を心の中で唱え「諸行無常」と頭の片隅に置いておくことが対策と言えば対策なのでしょうが，またそれではそれで恋愛の醍醐味のかなりの部分が失われてしまいそうな気もします。

知り合いが「それまで全然気にならなかったのに自分が親になった途端，街中にこれほどベビーカーがあるのかと驚いた」と語っていましたがそれがまさに注目バイアスということでしょう。

「電気自動車を買った途端にあちこちで同じ車を見かけるようになった」「つけ麺にはまった途端につけ麺屋ばかりが目に入るようになった」「筋トレにはまった途端に鍛えてる人の多さに気づいた」も同様で，逆に言えば，世の中の小さな幸せを自分から積極的に探すようにしていれば，その過程で自分自身の周りにある「幸せ」にも気づけるようになるということです。

聞くところによれば，スローテンポの曲は，悲しみ，落ち込み，深刻さといったネガティヴな感情を呼び起こしがちなんだとか。

確かにこちらとこちらを聞き比べると納得です。

One Step Beyond マッドネス (Madness)

この発想はなかった。イントロでナレーションが入る曲ならいくつか知っていますが，最初から最後までそれだけという曲はひとつもありませんでした。ヴァースやコーラスがあるものと思いながら最後まで聞いていたのですがありませんでした。
This is not what I expected.  Some songs I know have an narration at the opening of the song but none of them consist entirely of it.  I was expecting something like a verse or chorus would follow the narration while listening to the song.   No, nothing did.

（余談）

 イギリスの70年代を振り返る番組にこの曲が登場し，それで興味を引かれたわけですが，まさか最初のナレーションの後は「one step beyond」の掛け声を除き，最後まで終始インストだけとは思いませんでした。

以前この曲を取り上げた時にその歌詞の短さに圧倒されたのですが，それよりも遥か前にこういう曲があったとは思いもしませんでした。

人間は不安により強く反応する生き物なので，検索結果に不安を引き起こすキーワードが含まれていると，ついそこをクリックしてしまいます。

例えば，頭痛がしたため「急な頭痛」で検索したとしましょう。すると検索結果には「くも膜下出血」「髄膜炎」「脳腫瘍」などの単語の含まれた記事も混じって登場します。それを見てしまうと，自分ではただの頭痛だと思っていたものが（無論それが正しい場合もないとは言えませんが）突然何か恐ろしい病気であるように思えてくるでしょう。そのため本当にそうであるかどうかを確認したくなり，そのリンクをクリックしてしまいます。

そして別の人間も同じように不安になりそのリンクをクリックし，また別の人間も・・・と多くの人がそのリンクをクリックすることで，その記事はどんどん検索結果の上位に浮かび上がり，そのことによってさらに多くの人がクリックしてしまい，さらにその記事の「信用度」が上がってしまいます。

今の状況がまさにこれで，誰かの不安や不信が他の誰かの不安や不信を煽り，世の中を不安と不信で満たしているような気がしてなりません。確かにこんな時こそこの相手のようにその不安や不信を払拭し「大丈夫，平気」と言ってくれる人が必要なのかもしれません。

（余談）

「Out of sight, out of mind（去る者日々に疎し）」は真理だと思いますが，この主人公のように別れた相手と同じ町に住んでいるとなかなかそれもかないません。

なにしろ狭い町（コミュニティ）なので，相手を連想させる「地雷」があちこちに転がっています。歌詞に登場する「妹（姉）」や「ママ」など相手の家族もそうですし，行く場所も限られているのでばったり出会うということも日常的に起こります。またおそらく出身校も同じでしょうから，卒業アルバムを見るあるいは同級生と会うといったことがあると，別れた相手のことがもれなくついてきます。

したがって本当に忘れたいのであれば，そこから引っ越すあるいはそれが無理でも外国に長期の旅行に出かけることが一番であるように思われますが，それをせず（相手に出会いそうなバーで）飲んでいるところを見ると主人公はまだ「もしかして」を期待しているのかもしれません。

この曲を今まで取り上げてなかったのが驚きです。おそらくこれまでに何度も耳になさっているはずの有名な曲であり，また「文化的，歴史的，芸術的に重要である」という理由でアメリカの米国議会図書館によって重要な録音資料として保存されることが2017年に決定されています。
I was surprised to find that I hadn't picked up this song before.  It's such a well-known song and I'm sure many of you have heard it so many times before.  It's also selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant" in 2017.

タイトルが「We are family」であって「We are A family」でないところが重要で，冠詞がないことによって，主人公たちが「生物学的な家族」ではなく，より広い「家族のように親しい仲間」という意味になっているからです。

英語のYOUには性別や単数・複数の区別がないので，この曲をただの恋愛関係の曲と取ることも可能ですが，これまでの一般的な使われ方を見る限りもっと社会運動的なものを感じます。

・・・ただ世界の歴史を見る限り家族だからといって必ずしも仲がいいとは限りませんが。

「みんなやってることなんだから別に心配することないぜ」と言って相手を説得にかかる主人公ですが，その理屈に無理があることは明らかです。他人がしていれば自分もしなければならないわけではありません。
The narrator is trying to convince the second person to have (probably) sex with them saying "Everybody does yeah that's okay".  It's obvious their logic is false.  Just because other people do doesn't mean you have to.

（余談）

にもかかわらず「みんなやっている」と言われればやらねばならないような気分になるのは，おそらく行動を選択する際に周りの行動を観察して同調する「同調性バイアス」というヤツであり，往々にしてそれによって判断や選択・決定が歪められてしまいます。

ただしそれがすなわち良くないことかと言われるとそれも正しくありません。なぜならそれがいまだに残っているということは人類の歴史のなかでそれが適応的であったからです。したがって重要なのはそうしたバイアスがあることを自覚した上で，自分の行動を選択することであると思われます。

・・・が「今売れています」というポップを見ると反射的に手に取ってしまいます・・・。

「割れ目なんかできないで，土台のとこさえちゃんとしてれば，ベイビイちょうど嵐みたいに，二人に何が起こっても，そのままじっと耐えてれば，みんなそのうち過ぎてくの」という主人公ですが，とはいうもののかの地のハリケーンやトルネード被害を報道する映像には土台以外は根こそぎもっていかれている家がいくつも登場し，見るたびに「そもそもそこに家を建てていいのか？」という疑問が常に浮かんでしまいます。

この主人公もまず「その相手で本当にいいのか」を考えた方がいいのではないでしょうか？
