まだ気持ちの残っている相手と別れるのは簡単なことではありません。付き合いが長ければ長いほど難しくなります。この主人公が相手に別れ話を切り出した際，あまり揉めないよう祈りたいと思います。
Ending a relationship with someone who you still care for isn't very easy.  The longer the relationship lasts, the harder it gets to end.  I hope it won't get a bit dramatic when the narrator brings up the subject to the second person.

歌詞を読んでいると，主人公の方は未練があるようですが，仮にそれが単なる思い込みで，実際には相手の方がそうであった場合・・・・修羅場になるような気がしてなりません。
