ギリシャ神話に登場するナルシスという少年は湖に映った自分自身の姿に夢中になり，最終的に自分の燃える心の発する熱で溶けて死んでしまいます。
In the Greek mythology, a boy named Narcissus falls in love with his own reflection on a lake and eventually dies being melted by the heat caused by the fire within himself.

神話では彼は水面に映った自分の姿を他人だと思い，その相手が振り向いてくれないのに失望して命を落としたんだとか。

子どもの頃にこの神話を聞いた時には「さすが神話はめちゃくちゃだな」と思ったものですが，イン○タグ○ムなど今日のSNSを見ていると，まさにリアルで「湖面に映った自分に恋する」状態です。

命を落とす前にそういったものからは身を引くのが賢明であるようです。
